Quite a few weeks have passed, so I’m plenty overdue for an update post.
Writing articles over at Practical Golf has been an amazing experience! Unfortunately I’ve been neglecting my own site. That will be changing as the golf season finally gets started.
I’ve been playing pretty poorly recently, either from rust or lack of practice. I booked another appointment with my coach last Friday, and we’re already righting the ship.
The last lesson before that was in October. I was afraid I wasn’t progressing like I should be, but when we looked at the numbers I was actually headed in a good direction. His only disappointment was my data tracking. GAME GOLF tags have been added back to my clubs for better record-keeping.
We lengthened my backswing a bit by finishing the final position and added some incredible distance. The difference was remarkable. I was a club longer throughout the bag and averaged 282 yards with my driver (including personal records of 322 and 333 yards, breaking it twice in one weekend).
This weekend the LPGA is in town, and I’m looking forward to seeing some professionals up close again. If you get a chance to go to an event, I cannot recommend it enough. There is an incredible effortlessness to the professional game.
I’ve added golf-specific workouts from Joey D.’s book and included three Superspeed sessions a week for the past month. Besides the adjustments made during my lesson, I’ve already added back all the speed I had at the end of last year before my three month break.
Things are getting exciting, and I can’t wait to keep you updated!
Hi John, you speak about this book ? : Fix Your Body, Fix Your Swing: The Revolutionary Biomechanics Workout Program

That’s the one, Stephane! The workouts can be programmed around your individual weaknesses and require very little exercise equipment. I’ve tried other books, but this one is the most direct and customizable.
